Following the incredible success of the Pixar animated film Inside Out 2 in 2024, curiosity about which animated sequels might be released in 2025 come as no surprise. We’ve discovered six exciting movies worth looking forward to. Let’s check them out.

Lilo & Stitch

Fun fact: The character Stitch was originally conceived in 1985 on a different project that was later abandoned. Only to return as an alien in the movie Lilo & Stitch. This year, the duo is back in a CGI animation Live film remake.

Fun fact: Hiccup is the first teenage protagonist for a DreamWorks Animation movie. In the first film, which aired in 2010.

Smurfs

Fun fact: The 2011 The Smurfs movie outperformed the two that followed, in terms of Box office rank and gross. Let’s see if the 2025 version can beat this record.

The Bad Guys 2

Fun fact: This movie is based on a children’s book, by Aaron Blabey. The prequel was released in 2022, grossing 250 million dollars worldwide. The film was nominated 13 times, winning 2 awards.

Zootopia 2

Fun fact: Zootopia was the 4th highest-grossing film of 2016, bringing in 1 billion dollars, nominations and winning an Oscar among other awards. Zootopia is an exceptional film. So exceptional, a series called Zootopia+ soon followed, also winning 2 awards out of 6 nominations.

The trailer has not been released yet, it is rumoured to be released by the third quarter though.

The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants

Fun fact: SpongeBob SquarePants is the longest-running cartoon show in Nickelodeon history, with its episode count reaching 277 in February 2025.
