Did you know you can transfer and receive domain ownership from one ClientZone account to another? Read on to find out how.

Why change domain ownership?

Someone might want to change domain ownership for a number of reasons. Let us imagine your website developer, business partner, or employee used their personal information to register your domain name. It is preferable to transfer the domain name to a business or legitimate owner's account.

Are there any costs involved when transferring domain ownership in ClientZone?

No, transferring a domain does not cost anything. Please note, however, that the new domain owner will be charged for the hosting package the following month.

Follow these steps to give your domain name:

  1. Log into ClientZone.
  2. Click on the ‘Hosting’ tab.
  3. On the left-hand side, look for Domain Ownership, and select 'give or gain a domain’.
  4. A pop-up will appear. Select 'Gain Domain'.
  5. Select the domain you would like to transfer.
  6. Enter the clientzone email address of the account you are transferring the domain name to.
  7. Click on 'Transfer Domain' to confirm.

And here are steps to gain a domain name on ClientZone:

  1. Log into ClientZone.
  2. Click on the ‘Hosting’ tab.
  3. On the left-hand side, look for 'Domain Ownership', and click on ‘Give or Gain a domain’.
  4. A pop-up will appear. Select ‘Gain Domain’.
  5. Select the domain you would like to take ownership of.
  6. Enter the Authorisation Key.
  7. Click ‘Receive Selected Products’
  8. Select the payment method you would prefer.
  9. Click ‘Complete Ownership Change’.
  10. Confirm that you accept the transfer of these products and click ‘Transfer Products’.
  11. A notification will pop up ‘Successful’.
