I love a good mobile game! With technology in smartphones getting better every year, mobile games are getting more advanced. Game developers are also forced to get more creative in a market that is already very saturated. Your smartphone is now a powerful handheld console and these must have games are a real treat – especially if someone else is hogging your PS4!
For this list I have chosen to review some hidden gems and to show that there is more to Mobile Gaming than just Candy Crush and Pokemon Go!
Landing Confirmed is a beautiful, physics driven masterpiece. Inspired by the recent SpaceX accomplishments, the goal of the game is to guide a precarious rocket through dangerous moving obstacles and land safely on the other side of the level.
It’s a puzzle game with a casual arcade feel to it, making it perfect to squeeze in a level between meetings or at the doctor’s offices. Slick, but basic graphics really gives this game a tight edge. It’s easy to learn (but hard to master) controls makes you feel like you’re on the verge of beating the level even after 17 spectacular crashes!
This is the best mobile game I’ve played in years.
2. Not Golf
Not Golf is like golf, but not. A good twist on the traditional, over-done, putt-putt and 2D golf. You don’t have to like golf to like this game.
There is practically no skill involved, while the goal is just to get the ball to the other end of the level in as few shots as possible. The developer really made an effort to introduce different modes, customisable skins and mini-games to keep your interest weeks after you actually finish
3. Doofus Drop
Doofus Drop is a ridiculous, vulgar, stupid, brilliant, beautiful work of art! It might seem like a game of chance – scoring as many stars as you can while rolling a doofus down a hill.
What it turns out to be is a funny, artistic and exciting gem of a game. Full of quirks, hidden treasures and trophies; every drop will uncover something new that will keep you saying “Okay, just one more time”. With tastefully placed ads, you don’t have to spend a cent on this game and still feel like you’re playing the premium version.
If you’re still unconvinced, I’ll leave you with a quote from the Google Play Store:
“Doofus Drop is a moronic masterpiece of addictive gaming mayhem, unique and captivating art, and top-notch fart jokes. If you don’t think farts are funny, stop lying to yourself and play Doofus Drop.”
At 100MB this game is quite a large download compared to other mobile games, but that’s why you’re using Afrihost data, right?
4. Space Sloth
Space Sloth is an oldie but a goodie! Where else can you fly a sloth through space by swinging on planets that are memes?
In a time where most games are high budget, resource intensive and even stressful, Space Sloth delivers a very well thought out, funny and easy-going game. With a soothing soundtrack and hilarious sound effects, this game will make you forget about your worldly troubles until you get hit out of the sky by a flying lawnmower and crash back to reality.
A rating of 4.5/5 on the Google Play Store speaks for itself.
